Getting There
Many major U.S. cities offer direct flights to Costa Rica, including Miami, New York, Los Angeles, Houston, Orlando, Atlanta, and a handful of others. Those traveling from other destinations in the U.S. will need to make at least one connection. Several major U.S. airlines offer flights to San Jose airport, including American, United, and Delta.
From the United Kingdom, it will be necessary to make a stop in a major U.S. city, such as Miami or Houston, in order to complete your trip to Costa Rica. Several European airlines, including British Airways, Virgin Atlantic, KLM, and Iberia, offer this option.
It's also easy to catch a plane from Mexico aboard airlines such as Mexicana. TACA Airlines also flies to Costa Rica from other Central American countries, South America, and a number of Caribbean island nations. LASCA is the official airline of Costa Rica and their fleet flies frequently between various cities in Central America.
While many flights head for San Jose International, a second airport, Liberia International, is located on the northern Guanacaste Coast and is becoming more popular with travelers heading for the beaches in that area.
